The Senior High Youth currently meet twice a month for a meal, devotions, planning / organizing, and fellowship.  This group is very involved with activities.  They have fundraisers, lead a worship service, do service projects in the community by serving at a local soup kitchen, raising money for “Souper” Bowl Sunday to stock a local food pantry, and Christmas in June for children in local group homes with “Back to School” needs.  They also participate in the ministry of the congregation by serving as ushers, lay readers, communion assistants, and keeping the nursery during church services.  The youth do activities with younger children in the church community.  Each year the youth organize a Easter Egg Hunt, Trunk or Treat, Vacation Bible School games, Lunch and play after church, and Parent’s Night Out and a Junior High Youth kidnapping (opportunity for devotions, fellowship, bonding, and getting to know each other better).

On May 17th and 18th the Senior High youth participated in the Catawba County Relay For Life at Southside Park in Newton, NC.  The youth raised over $2,000 for cancer research.  Their group name was “Laura’s Life Savers”.

The youth plan to attend the 2003 Youth Gathering in Atlanta, GA in July 2003.  They will be working to raise money for registration, travel expense, and accommodations.    Some of their fundraisers include a yard sales, “Subs To Go”, hamburger / hot dogs sales.
