In our Bible
School this year we took an expedition to ancient Egypt. We met Joseph
whose jealous brothers sold him to Egyptian slave merchants. We followed
him to Egypt where he interpreted dreams for the Pharaoh and was made a
ruler in Egypt. He saved them from a terrible famine through good planning
ahead.
On our second night Joseph's brothers and father moved
to Egypt to survive the famine. We learned that it was God's plan for
Joseph to be a slave so that he could save all the people from the famine.
Our third night was 400 years later. The Pharaoh then
hated and feared the Israelites who were Joseph's descendants. He made
them slaves. They looked to God for help and he sent it in the form of a
baby - Moses
Moses visited us on the fourth night to tell us how God
chose him to lead the Israelites out of slavery in Egypt.
On our last night we found that even though God gave us
rules to live by - The Ten Commandments - we all have trouble following
them. In order for us to be saved from our sins God had to send his son
Jesus to die for us, Jesus came and talked to us about what he did for us
and what we can do for him.
Our expedition ended as we found the true treasure -
Jesus, our Savior.
Each night we enjoyed a delicious supper at Pharaoh's Phood Court,
followed by a meaning opening where we pledged to the U. S. Flag, the
Christian Flag, and the Bible. We heard the Bible verse for the day and
sang some theme-related songs. then we journeyed through skits based on
our Bible story for each night. We met in tents to complete our lessons.
We then went to our "craft bazaar" to make cool crafts that went
along with each lesson. At "Riverside Praises" we reinforced our
lessons with songs about our Bible stories. Our last stop each night was
at "Chariot's of Fun" where we played games.
We had a great time at Bible School, and we learned
that the greatest treasure is Jesus
