Allow me to introduce Pastor John Connolly
Pastor John is a US Navy Chaplain and Minister of Word and Sacrament in the N.C. Synod of the ELCA. The Piedmont of North Carolina is home to him, growing up in Gastonia through his school years and spending much of his childhood on his grandparents farm in Taylorsville, NC. After enlisting in the Navy, he attended UNC Charlotte and earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. He worked for the next 15 years as an engineer in Mooresville and Charlotte before responding to God's call to pursue ordained ministry. Following seminary, he returned to the Navy following in his father's footsteps as a Chaplain where he served with both the US Navy and USMC units. He currently serves in Norfolk, VA, at Navy Warfare Development Center writing, editing, and managing religious ministry related doctrine on behalf of the US Navy Chaplain Corps. He also frequently serves as a supply pastor for congregations in Virginia and North Carolina. Pastor Connolly is the author of several books:
The Liturgy of Pastoral Care,
My Grandfather's Watch, and
Rolling Holy-The Cyclist's Prayer Book.
He is married to Emma, who he met at UNCC. They have one daughter, Maggie, a junior at Virginia Tech. Pastor John will be leading our Worship Services and Shepherding us as of October 5, 2025. He has traveled the world and wants to live in "God's Country". (his words).
